Plan application compatibility and privacy before installing service packages on a custom ROM.

Understand the choices

Some ROMs include Google services, some allow a matching Google-app package, some support microG, and some are designed to run without either.

The package must match the Android version, CPU architecture and installation stage specified by the ROM. Installing the wrong package can cause setup crashes or boot loops.

Compatibility tradeoffs

Banking, payment, DRM, work-profile, push-notification and location-dependent apps can behave differently. Test your critical applications before migrating permanently.

Do not promise that hiding an unlocked bootloader or modifying integrity checks will make every app work; those workarounds can break after updates and weaken the security model.

Privacy plan

Decide which account services, backups, location providers and push systems you actually need. Document the choice so future updates reproduce the same configuration.

Critical safety boundary

Unlocking and flashing can erase data, weaken device security, disable protected services or make a phone unbootable. Use only your own device, exact model-specific instructions and a tested stock restore path.
