Understand the gate
Most retail devices ship with a locked bootloader. Unlocking permits partition flashing but normally performs a factory reset and reduces the security guarantees of the stock configuration.
OEM unlocking in Developer options only allows a later unlock request; it is not the unlock itself. Carrier, financing, enterprise-management or regional restrictions can keep the option unavailable.
Verify with the manufacturer
Use the manufacturer’s official unlock program or the ROM project’s device page. Never pay an unknown service to bypass a blocked bootloader.
If the official mechanism says the device is not eligible, treat it as unsupported and do not attempt an exploit-based workaround.
Before confirming
Remove valuable data, understand warranty and protected-service effects, verify the stock restore path and charge the phone before accepting the on-device unlock warning.
Unlocking and flashing can erase data, weaken device security, disable protected services or make a phone unbootable. Use only your own device, exact model-specific instructions and a tested stock restore path.
